MACFAST Signs MoU with Indian Institute of Information Technology, Allahabad (IIIT-A)

A memorandum of understanding has been signed between Indian Institute of Information Technology, Allahabad (IIIT-A) and Mar Athanasios College for Advanced Studies Tiruvalla (MACFAST) , to work closely in research programmes and exchange scholars and students. The agreement was signed by Dr Shrishu Verma, registrar IIIT, Allahabad and Fr.Dr.Cherian J Kottayil, Principal, in the presence of Dr P Nagbhushan, Director, IIIT, Allahabad , Dr. Vijayshri Tewari ,Head, Department of Management studies, IIIT-A , Dr.M.S.Samuel, Director, Department of Computer Applications, MACFAST and Prof.Tiji Thomas ,Head Department of Computer Applications, MACFAST in a function organized at Director’s chamber at IIIT-A. The MoU envisages faculty and student exchange programmes between MACFAST and IIIT -A. As per the agreement IIIT-A faculty members will be conducting short term teaching programmes at MACFAST. IIIT-A will open its door to students and faculty members from MACFAST to carry out internships and research programmes in their campus, free of cost. The institute will also mentor the new unique M.Sc. programme in Bionanotechnology MACFAST is planning to start from next academic session onwards. According to Fr.Dr.Cherian J Kottayil, this collaboration ushers a new academic culture in MACFAST and strengthen the academic and research output from three departments of college,viz. computer applications, management studies and biosciences. IIIT-A will also act as a mentor for MACFAST students in developing start-up companies. MACFAST which is recognized by DSIR, Govt. of India has already signed MoUs with CSIR-CFTRI and AMITY Universities and has collaboration with leading National and international organization, said Fr.Dr.Cherian J Kottayil.
